DD33 – Pocahontas (1995)

Just around the river bend of what fans might call Disney’s all-time greatest trio of films, we come upon one of their biggest missteps: Pocahontas. Though there’s a lot to be admired about the movie (“Colours of the Wind,” anyone??), this week the Dummies are doing their best to explore some of the problematic historical and social implications of this incredibly complicated story while celebrating some truly impressive achievements in animation.

DD32 – The Lion King (1994)

If everything the light touches was ours, then hey, we couldn’t wait to be king, either! Explore the thrill, joy, and heartbreak of the circle of life as the Dummies sing along to Hakuna Matata with Simba, Timon, Pumbaa, and a whole pride of other familiar faces.

DD31 – Aladdin (1992)

Listen, he steals only what he can’t afford – it’s not his fault that’s everything! Stay one jump ahead with the Dummies and our favourite street rat as we meet Princess Jasmine, recover a magic lamp, and come face to face with one of the greatest characters in cinematic history – Robin William’s incomparable Genie.

DD30 – Beauty and the Beast (1991)

It should come as no surprise that a tale as old as time should be just as good thirty years later. The Dummies invite you to be our guest as we journey from a little town (it’s a quiiiiet village!) to an enchanted castle and take on one of Disney’s all-time classics, Beauty and the Beast.

DD29 – The Rescuers Down Under (1990)

After reviewing more than fifty years of Disney’s animated feature films, the Dummies have arrived at their first sequel: The Rescuers Down Under! That’s right, we’re hopping an albatross down to the Outback, where our beloved Bianca and Bernard are about to ruffle more than a few feathers as they help their new pal Cody take on an evil poacher and a freaky lizard to save the great Marahute.

DD28 – The Little Mermaid (1989)

The time has come for the Dummies to go under the sea with friends Ariel, Sebastian, Flounder, and more! We’re turning up the heat at the bottom of the ocean as we discuss The Little Mermaid in all its glory. From outstanding animation to unforgettable music, there’s a lot to say about the movie that made us all want to be part of that world.

DD27 – Oliver and Company (1988)

Oliver and Company dares to ask the existential question: why should I worry? Well, for starters, he’s a cat in a dog’s world, but lucky for Oliver those dogs are happy to have him join the crew – and maybe even help him find a home along the way. Sing along with the Dummies as they rock out to Disney’s earwormiest song so far, and learn what it takes to survive as a little cat in the big city.

DD26 – The Great Mouse Detective (1986)

There’s no replacing Mickey Mouse, but if he ever needed a sick day, Basil – aka The Great Mouse Detective – would be up to the task. This charismatic rodent and his trusty sidekick Dawson (who he literally JUST met) are here to take on the evil Ratigan and save the day – and the Dummies are along for the hunt!

DD25 – The Black Cauldron (1985)

If there’s one Disney movie you’ve never seen, it’s probably The Black Cauldron, and it’s worth a watch to understand why. This film has got it all: magic pigs; inconsistent accents; sacrificial sidekicks; glowing orbs that have nothing to do with the plot. Tune in as the Dummies unpack this head-scratcher of a story and take a deep dive into one of Disney’s greatest unsung heroes: Gurgi.
